Summertime

Summer is here! Well it's been summer for me for quite some time now, but I'm finally remembering that I have this blog and I'm going to write.

So after I spend over two weeks in China I realized that my chinese is pretty bad. I can understand people pretty well, but it's so hard for me to articulate simple things to other people without saying "uh" every second and feeling really inadequate about the way I juan she (curl my tongue?). SO I hope I can continue to take chinese classes here. Even though the classes are really hard, I think it's a worthwhile investment especially since I've been able to share the gospel with some of my family members in China. I really want to be able to get to know them better so I can share God's love with them.

APARTMENT
God has been so faithful in providing me and my housemates this new place. hehe as Keith puts it we are in our honeymoon stage, but even if that wears off soon it's okay because God is using this process to sanctify us. Right now Julie and I are sleeping on borrowed mattresses, basically bumming it in our living room and Julie/Mish's room all the time. Anyways moving is crazy, and I'm slowly getting used to cooking food and walking very far to get to class.

SCHOOL
I get to read Pride and Prejudice for my English class. HOORAY! :)

okay I must go help Julie move now...so long for now!

Pearls

I've always liked pearls. They're so timeless and beautiful. You get the image of someone with really nice teeth or just very ladylike elegance.

Matthew 13:45-46
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls,
and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it."

So I've been wearing this pearl ring lately (so much that i needed to switch hands because I got this little tan forming), and it's just a constant reminder that Jesus is my pearl of great value--that I don't need anyone or anything else to satisfy me. that I should be willing to give up all I have for Him.

Wisbens Medastin is a four year old boy in Haiti. My youth group has been sponsoring him through Compassion International for almost a year. Our sponsorship provides him with an education and a safe place to play, learn, eat, and grow. This program may be compromised by the recent 7.0 earthquake that devastated this third world country.

Praying for the people of Haiti that they would trust in the Lord's provision and have hope in Him. Praying especially for the staff of Compassion International and the other organizations there.
