braids

Sigh. love this braid and statement necklace. and of course Rashida Jones.
I really want to learn how to braid hair well. I see so many ideas on tbd and pinterest, but I can't seem to learn how to do these on myself. I feel like I could do it on other people. Any suggestions on how to learn? other than "Just do it?" -_-

So fail

wow this time of year is so crazy with all this school piling up and crashing down and a church event or some event every weekend til may! exciting! everything seems to snowball and just tumble down and then at that moment in mid may i just sit back and say "wow that's all over now it was crazy!!" or "whoa all of that really happened??!" again and again God is faithful :) I think that's what I've been really looking forward to lately. that God would grow me in trusting Him in various ways because everything in the next three months to december is just so uncertain with school, job, my geographic location, etc.

So i guess the Pioneer Woman thing didn't go as well as planned (see previous posts if you have no idea what I'm talking about) but today i did cook!! I made dumplings and potstickers...i would post a picture but i forgot because me and my dinner guests were just so happy and hungry that we devoured it in an instant :) Happy hearts and tummies! I'm learning to just cherish these impromptu dinners and times of fun-filled fellowship around food

salad and pasta

so sunday i made "My Spinach Salad" i modified it a little (no bacon) and i used store-bought poppyseed dressing (because i was short on time and i love it!)
YOM! my notes: less onion because i dont like the overly sweetness because the dressings sweet and more egg..makes it more filling and yummy

now im making Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce with just some leftover stuff i need to cook before i go home for spring break
im adding mushrooms and chicken and im cutting out cheese
yay for cooking! :)

i'm back!

I'm always on and off with blogging. I think it's because i just forget. hah. but i'll keep this up just so I can keep an online journal of sorts and you bloggerians can find out what i've been up to.
soo...
the fitness thing pretty much failed. This happens a lot. I get excited about something, and then that initial excitement dies in like a week or so...and it's happening again!
haha
I'm going to try PioneerWoman-ing! because im a big fan of Ree Drummond and her work on Pioneer Woman
Today I made a modified version of her Pasta alla Marlboro Man :D definitely tasted manly HAHA
My goal is to do one a week...can't guarantee anything though sometimes cooking becomes a rare occasion when it's midterms/finals season...which is OH RIGHT NOW!! :( but today I had a break and a headache...so i decided to cook instead of study YAY
What are you favorite Pioneer Woman recipes?? or just favorite recipes in general? Maybe i'll try making some of your suggestions. and hey if you live near me you will probably benefit from this :D esp if i make a dessert because we all know i do love food but i also love working out. so i probably don't want too much sugary stuff lying around after i come back from the gym :)

I think I'm gonna try push-ups even though i think they are so HARD
i think at the very minimum im gonna do 20 a day. Who wants to join me??? :)

Crunched for time

This weeks fitness tip: when you're reading a book (or reader, Bible, newspaper, ipad, whatever) stand up. Then keep standing and do a standing leg crunch (pull you right leg and knee up and then lower and then do the same to the left side). ab workout while you read!

next tip: yup one more because i'm just oozing today and because I've had these to share for a while. "The Flamingo". While you're doing any task almost that doesn't require a lot of movement, incorporate a single leg stand. This should help you be aware of your posture and strengthen your core (because tight abs are always good)
happy multitasking! and don't stress if you don't see results right away. I shall leave you with this verse:
"Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day." 2 Cor 4:16

Just Dance

I need to rave about Cardio Dance at the rsf at 5:45 on Sunday nights. so much FUN. really good way to get a solid hour of cardio in and have tons of fun just moving and de-stressing and working your brain really hard (well i felt like i was working really hard to get all the steps and not bump into people lol)

No. 2

Tip 2: Calf raises
Anywhere you are standing up (like waiting in line at the ATM or grocery store) you can do these. I thought this was a good illustration but you DEFINITELY don't need the heavy weight up top (only if you want to...at the gym not in line at Safeway lol)
I like to do 3 sets of 20 at a time when I'm just standing at work behind the desk or when I'm reading standing up (see below).
Happy raising!

Summertime

Summer is here! Well it's been summer for me for quite some time now, but I'm finally remembering that I have this blog and I'm going to write.

So after I spend over two weeks in China I realized that my chinese is pretty bad. I can understand people pretty well, but it's so hard for me to articulate simple things to other people without saying "uh" every second and feeling really inadequate about the way I juan she (curl my tongue?). SO I hope I can continue to take chinese classes here. Even though the classes are really hard, I think it's a worthwhile investment especially since I've been able to share the gospel with some of my family members in China. I really want to be able to get to know them better so I can share God's love with them.

...
APARTMENT
God has been so faithful in providing me and my housemates this new place. hehe as Keith puts it we are in our honeymoon stage, but even if that wears off soon it's okay because God is using this process to sanctify us. Right now Julie and I are sleeping on borrowed mattresses, basically bumming it in our living room and Julie/Mish's room all the time. Anyways moving is crazy, and I'm slowly getting used to cooking food and walking very far to get to class.

SCHOOL
I get to read Pride and Prejudice for my English class. HOORAY! :)

okay I must go help Julie move now...so long for now!

Pearls

I've always liked pearls. They're so timeless and beautiful. You get the image of someone with really nice teeth or just very ladylike elegance.

Matthew 13:45-46
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls,
and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it."

So I've been wearing this pearl ring lately (so much that i needed to switch hands because I got this little tan forming), and it's just a constant reminder that Jesus is my pearl of great value--that I don't need anyone or anything else to satisfy me. that I should be willing to give up all I have for Him.

Wisbens Medastin is a four year old boy in Haiti. My youth group has been sponsoring him through Compassion International for almost a year. Our sponsorship provides him with an education and a safe place to play, learn, eat, and grow. This program may be compromised by the recent 7.0 earthquake that devastated this third world country.

Praying for the people of Haiti that they would trust in the Lord's provision and have hope in Him. Praying especially for the staff of Compassion International and the other organizations there.
